A Real Honeymoon Story: From Australia to the Allgäu

The couple in this story travelled all the way from Australia for their European honeymoon.

Their journey had already taken them to several incredible destinations, including Amsterdam, Paris and London.

When we first spoke, they knew that Neuschwanstein Castle was something they definitely wanted to have included in their photographs.

During our consultation, we talked through different possibilities and I showed them several locations and ideas for their After Wedding Photoshoot in Bavaria. They then took a few days to think about the options.

In the end, they decided on the Tegelberg, one of the beautiful mountain locations near Füssen and Schwangau.
Their decision meant that their photoshoot would combine the things that make the Allgäu so special: mountains, alpine landscapes, beautiful views and the atmosphere of the Bavarian Alps.

Starting at Schwansee near Füssen

The morning of the photoshoot, we met at Schwanseepark near Füssen. On my way there, I was already watching the light and the weather carefully.
Mist was rising from the fields, and I was hoping that we would find the same magical atmosphere at the lake. Then we walked through the park together.
We turned a corner – and suddenly the view opened up.

The beautiful Schwansee lay in front of us, illuminated by the warm morning light.
It was one of those moments when you immediately know that the weather has created something special.

Finding Your Rhythm in Front of the Camera, After-Wedding Photoshooting in Schwangau

We started at the dock. The first few minutes of a photoshoot are always about getting comfortable.
Most couples are not used to being photographed professionally for an extended period of time. They don't need to know what to do. That is my job.

I guide you through the experience, give you clear but relaxed direction and pay attention to the way you naturally interact with each other.
As we photograph, I get to know your dynamic as a couple.

How do you hold hands? How do you make each other laugh? Who reaches for the other first? When do you naturally get close?
These little things are what make photographs feel personal rather than posed.

After some time, they simply sat down and took a breath before continuing through the park.

The view towards Neuschwanstein Castle was also part of our original plan, so we made sure to capture this iconic Bavarian landmark as part of their story.

From Füssen to the Mountains: Our Tegelberg Adventure

After exploring Schwansee, we continued to our next location. We took the Tegelbergbahn cable car up into the mountains.
It was a sunny Saturday at the end of September, so the gondola was busy with hikers enjoying the beautiful autumn weather.
But once we reached the mountain, everything became much quieter.
We found a beautiful area where we could enjoy the surroundings almost by ourselves.

And suddenly, there it was:
The incredible panorama of the Allgäu Alps, the summit cross, the small mountain chapel, rocky landscapes, alpine meadows and an endless view across the mountains.

This is one of the reasons I love working as an Allgäu wedding photographer.
The landscape itself becomes part of the story.

An Authentic Mountain Photoshoot on the Tegelberg

By this point, the couple had completely arrived in the photoshoot. They knew how I worked, trusted my guidance and were able to relax more and more.

We moved through the area and photographed from different perspectives. Sometimes I gave them direction. Sometimes we simply walked.

In between photographs, we talked, laughed and took breaks. I also kept asking them whether they had any ideas or wishes for the next part of the session.

The entire area around the Tegelberg became our backdrop.

We created a variety of photographs showing the different sides of the Allgäu landscape: dramatic mountains, rocks, green meadows, water and warm golden light.

The result is not simply a collection of beautiful portraits.

These photographs are memories of their European honeymoon – and of a day they experienced together in the Bavarian mountains.
